I will say that it's still unsettling to see her with a mop of hair-and a haircut, if you can call it that, that makes her look like Mike's twin more than anything. You can't cage a little girl even to protect her.

He's such a great guy but you just know that she's going to break free of her confinement, no matter how well-meaning he is. Speaking of Hopper, I really love his and El's new relationship. Should be interesting to see where this goes. The way he looks at her, well, it's more than just friends. Bob is sweet and dorky and pretty much exactly what Joyce and Will need at the moment (Will says Bob is the only one who treats him like a normal kid) but there's definitely a spark between Joyce and Hopper. Joyce, meanwhile, has begun dating the original Goonie himself, Sean Astin, who plays Bob Newby. The other kids stare or leave mean notes calling him "zombie boy." He's accosted by other trick-or-treaters who call him "freak" and set off one of his terrifying episodes. And it is awful to imagine what he's going through. The visions are only one part of his suffering he's also sick of being treated like a freak, or even just treated with pity. Whatever the cause, it's terrible to see poor Will suffer. Whether this tinkering is what's causing Will's visions remains to be seen.

We learn that experiments and tinkering with powers beyond our control continues in secrecy and blind arrogance. In fact, Joyce and Hopper bring Will to be tested and interviewed there by a doctor who assures them that the bad people who once ran the institution are gone, that Will's visions are simply PTSD and are worsening only because we're so close to the one-year anniversary of his trauma. Something is rotten in the town of Hawkins, Indiana, and we can be sure it's related to the visions Will is having, and to the research facility that is still up and operational nearby. Later, the same thing happens to all the other pumpkin patches, and even to the surrounding trees, which ooze with rot and maggots. Hopper arrives to find a field of half-rotten pumpkins, still on the vine. The mystery deepens as Hopper is called in to what at first sounds almost silly: A pumpkin farmer accuses a competitor of poisoning his patch. This comes at weird times, as he stands in an arcade with his friends, or out trick-or-treating. He sees visions of the other world, and a giant shadow monster in the sky.

Meanwhile, the events of a year ago weigh heavy on everyone, especially Will and his family, as the Upside Down continues to ravage the poor kid's life. He's bitter over losing her, and misses her more than the other boys do. Mike talks to Eleven every day over the walkie-talkie, counting off how many days it's been since he last saw her. Recall, everyone agreed last season to keep everything a secret, and nobody gave up the whereabouts of Eleven, who the government wants for obvious reasons.
STRANGER THINGS SECOND SEASON DISAPPOINTS CODE
They have a secret knocking code for when he gets home, and he communicates with her via Morse code in the day. Eleven is now living secretly with Hopper, who won't let her go out of the house for any reasons, and won't tell anyone about her living with him. It's one year after the events of Season 1.
